Linux has become one of the most popular and powerful computer operating systems and has become widely used in universities, research institutions and industry.

This course is designed for scientists who need to use the Linux operating system for their work. While the course is aimed at the use of Linux, everything also applies to the use of macOS on Apple computers

While these systems have user-friendly graphical user interfaces, the use of the command line (in this case the BASH shell) is often necessary to run software developed for research, and also provides very powerful techniques for automating and repeating tasks. This course gives a short introduction to the use of the command line. Topics include:
